He asked the High Court to cancel these cases.
Key legal provisions
Sections 132, 224, 352, 351(3) and 56 of the BNS
Issues raised
- Do the allegations show possible criminal offences?
- Should the court stop the case at this early stage?
Arguments of the case
The leader said the complaint was exaggerated and no proper offence was made out. The prosecution said his words were abusive, insulting, and meant to threaten a woman officer.
Judgement
The Court refused to cancel the FIRs. It said the investigation should continue. It also said people who have held public office must be careful and respectful in their speech, especially toward women officers on duty.
